New Jellyfish Discovery
A new discovery of a jellyfish in the Mariana Trench in the Pacific Ocean proves the idea that there is still so much about the world's oceans that people don't know about. Based on the group of scientists from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), this new jellyfish species shares similar features with those of Crossota genus, which are known to spend the majority of their existence gliding through the water. A team from the NOAA is now working on an expedition through the Mariana Trench to explore the 43-mile long and 7-mile deep part of the Pacific. In 2009, President Bush declared the trench a protected zone in order for further research to be conducted on the area so we can learn more about ocean life.
This article was very interesting to me because just one discovery of jellyfish supported an ongoing idea that the world still has so much to learn about the ocean and what lives in it.
